Storm & hail damage
Hail & Storm Damage Roof Repair, With Help on Your Insurance Claim
Hail damage almost never shows from the driveway. Bruised shingles look fine from the ground and lose their granules over the next year or two, which is exactly when the leaks start and when a claim gets harder to make.
After a storm, Duane gets on the roof, photographs every bit of damage and tells you honestly whether there is a claim worth filing. If there is, he walks you through it. If there is not, he says so.

Signs the last storm hit your roof
- Dents in gutters, downspouts, vents or the AC unit
- Granules washing out of the downspouts
- Dark spots or bruises on shingles where hail struck
- Shingles missing, lifted or creased from wind
- Neighbors on your street getting their roofs replaced
- New leaks or ceiling stains after heavy rain
What to do right after a storm
A few steps in the first days make the rest of the process far easier:
- Take your own photos of anything visible from the ground: gutters, siding, windows, the yard
- If water is coming in, call to get the roof tarped so the damage inside does not grow
- Get an inspection before you call your insurance company, so you know what you are reporting
- Write down the date of the storm
- Do not sign anything with a door knocker on the spot
How the insurance claim actually goes
First, Duane inspects the roof and documents the damage with photos. Then you file the claim with your carrier, and we walk you through it. When the adjuster comes out, Duane can meet them on the roof and walk it with them. That step matters: an adjuster who is shown the damage in person sees a very different roof than one who looks alone for ten minutes.
If the claim is approved, you pay your deductible and we get to work. Duane will also tell you if he does not see damage worth a claim. Filing one that gets denied does you no good.
We never touch your deductible
Texas law does not allow a contractor to waive, rebate or absorb your insurance deductible, and contracts of $1,000 or more that involve an insurance settlement have to say so in writing. Any roofer offering to "take care of" your deductible is breaking that law, and that tells you something about the rest of their work.

Questions
Storm & Hail Damage questions
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Get the roof inspected first. A free inspection tells you whether there is damage worth reporting, and gives you photos to work from when you do call your carrier.
How long do I have to file a hail damage claim?
It depends on your policy, and some have strict reporting windows. Check your policy or ask your agent, and do not wait. Damage gets harder to tie to a specific storm as time passes.
Can you pay my deductible or give me a discount for it?
No, and no honest roofer in Texas will. State law does not allow a contractor to waive, rebate or absorb your deductible. You pay it to the roofer, the same as with any covered repair.
Do you tarp roofs after a storm?
Yes. If a storm has opened up your roof and water is getting in, call Duane at (214) 545-8133 and we will get it covered first.
