Roof Waterproofing & Leak Sealing

Water does not need much of an opening. A dried-out seal around a vent or a small gap in flashing is enough to soak decking for months before you ever see a stain inside.

Waterproofing is about finding those weak points and sealing them properly, before they turn into a repair bill. Duane starts with an inspection so you know exactly which spots need attention and which ones are fine.

Where waterproofing usually matters most

  • Flashing at walls, chimneys and skylights
  • Penetrations like pipe boots, exhaust vents and satellite mounts
  • Valleys where two slopes meet
  • Low-slope or flat sections over porches, patios and additions
  • Older roofs that need to make it a few more years

Low-slope and flat sections

Shingles are built to shed water downhill. Over a porch, patio cover or addition with very little pitch, water sits longer and finds every seam. Those sections need a different approach than the rest of the roof, and they are a common source of leaks on otherwise healthy roofs.

When sealing is not enough

Waterproofing extends the life of a sound roof. It cannot rescue one whose shingles are worn out across the board. If that is what Duane finds, he will tell you, and walk you through a repair or replacement instead of selling you a coating that will not hold.

Questions

Waterproofing questions

Is waterproofing the same as a new roof?

No. Waterproofing seals the weak points on a roof that still has life in it. A worn-out roof needs repair or replacement, and Duane will tell you which situation you are in.

Do you waterproof commercial and flat roofs?

Call Duane to describe the building and set up an inspection. Low-slope roofs need a different approach than shingles, and he will tell you what fits.
